Sealand
Sealand:
Sealand is a "micro-nation" south of England. They're a pretty unique group, that has been able to pull off the
almost impossible task of creating a new nation out of new territory, in a world where 100% of the territory has
already been claimed. It's quite the long story, and comes with a fair share of drama, but one of their ways
to fund their new endeavor has been to issue collectable coins. They're not quite as good looking as I usually
would want, but in combination with their story I feel they're worthy of a little of my time.
These coins are considered "medals" or "fantasy coins" as they're not really redeemable for goods or services.
Although you can find them on eBay and even in graded/slabbed form, a more informal place to check out is
Ken Potter's Variety Vault, which looks a bit like a clearing house for Sealand coins. He carries a good
variety of raw Sealand coins, including mint test coins,

1972 Sealand $10 silver Princess Joan

1994 Sealand $0.25 bronze Orca

1994 Sealand $0.50 cupro-nickel Orca

1994 Sealand $1 silver Orca

1994 Sealand $2.50 bronze Orca

2012 Sealand $25 silver Prince Roy
